Prerequisites
There is no single mandatory prerequisite, but candidates get the most value when they already have:
- Hands-on experience as a Power Platform functional consultant or developer (roughly 2-3 years), ideally validated by PL-200, PL-400, or an equivalent associate-level credential
- Working knowledge of Dataverse, model-driven and canvas apps, Power Automate, and Power BI
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, security roles, and enterprise data concepts
- For learners planning to sit AB-100: exposure to Copilot Studio or Azure AI Foundry is helpful, since several vendors and Microsoft’s own guidance associate AB-100 with prior AI-focused associate learning (such as AB-730/AB-731) – we cover this mapping in the Certification section below
